What does Furnistore offer East Surrey Residents? We offer a collection and resale service of household items solely with our East Surrey area as opposed to many of these items ending up in landfill. Everything from sofas, to beds, gas cookers, to curtains and anything else one would find in a home is collected. Items are taken back to our Warehouse we are and checked to ensure they are in working order, and then added to our stock. The public is welcome to come to our Warehouse. |
How many tonnes of furniture has Furnistore diverted from landfill?Last year, Furnistore was able to divert over 90 tonnes of unwanted furniture from landfills, this year our target is 100 tonnes. |
Where do the household goods come from?Donations are from families who have either outgrown items, or whose homes are undergoing redesign and no longer what or need a specific piece of furniture. Others donate because they are downsizing, or relocating and feel that specific pieces of furniture or other household goods will not fit in a new home. |
Are the home wards wares on offer good quality? All stock is in usable order. All gas appliances and electrical goods are tested to government standards and upholstered items comply with the relevant fire retardant regulations. At this time, we do not accept items that are broken nor missing bits and pieces. Some items are immediately usable; others may require a quick dusting or polish. |
How do you set prices on home wares? How negotiable are you on price if more than one item is purchased? The prices are set using local knowledge, second hand prices, the initial selling price (if available). Furnistore will negotiate on full price items but we reserve the right to insist on the full price. More often, we are likely to waive the delivery charge instead. If you are on certain means tested benefits, you may be entitled to a 50% reduction in price. If you think this may apply to you, please bring with you a tenancy agreement or utility bill with your current address and recent (within the last 3 months) proof of 'low income'. |
If I see something I like, do you provide a delivery service?Yes, we provide a delivery service. To be as efficient as possible, we try to co-ordinate both delivery and pickup within the same area with a minimum amount of travel time between each stop. |
How long do you keep items? What happens to items that aren't sold within a period of time? Our stock is reviewed every three months. Some items, such as beds will be kept until required. Prices may be reduced to encourage a sale. If an item remains for an extended period of time, we de-manufacture and recycle the component parts: metal is sold for scrap, textiles are taken to the textile bank and solid wood is kept for hobbyists or firewood. |
