VACANCY - VOLUNTEER ROLE - Volunteer Administration

Commencing 14th January 2013 Furnistore require admin volunteers to take phone calls and process collections for a SRN (Surrey Reuse Network) campaign which will be released on the 21st January 2013. The role will be in place for approximately five weeks. - For more information - click here

URGENTLY NEEDED -  Reliable / regular (ish) Volunteers to help with:-

  • General Office Admin
  • Answering the phones
  • Returning calls
  • Help in other areas (see below)

WE NEED YOUR HELP - YOU GET EXPERIENCE FOR YOUR DofE AWARD

Furnistore would like to recruit some volunteers who need experience for their DofE -  this experience would also look good on your CV or UCAS application - We are particularly in need for people interested or willing to help out in:-

  • Bar code labelling of our Stock
  • Listing collectible items on eBay.
  • Helping out in our warehouse, showroom or on van runs.
  • Customers service - taking clients calls.
  • Updating our Twitter and Facebook feeds.
  • Making craft items from recycled materials for us to sell
    - (e.g. Draft excluders / Cushions from old curtains)
  • Delivering leaflets and flyers to the local area.
  • Collecting / putting together our 'packs' - Starter, Hygiene, Kitchen and Bedding
  • Host fundraising events to enable us to help/support the local community

Trustees -

We are always on the look out for new trustees, bringing new experience and enthusiasm to our friendly board. In a charity such as ours we have and need a broad set of experience on our board (or helping/advising our board) and as such your experience in work or life could be of great benefit to us. We meet every 6-8 weeks and utilise less formal sub-committees to achieve this frequency - see our Trustee Job description / Role responsibilities page and specific sections for each role.

As part of our board post rotation during 2012 we are looking for new blood on our board of trustees.  We are specifically aiming to change the following positions (Company Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-Chair) and hopefully one of these will be filled with a new member to the board.

Fundraiser

-

To enable us to further develop our charity work, we are looking for a new enthusiastic fundraiser.  This position will require submitting applications for grants (new and existing), find and pursue new avenues of funding and to organise/coordinate a variety of fundraising events.

This position is regarded as very important by the board to the future of our charity - A new voluntary Trustee board position can be created for this role.

Volunteering -

Your time and talents are required to help out with any of the following:-

- General Admin, Answering our phones and Returning calls
- In the warehouse (liaising with clients, computer data entry / analysis, office admin / moving furniture around or liaising with clients),
- On the van either driving or helping with deliveries and collections
- Maintaining our PC based Inventory system which will automatically update our On-Line stock page of our website.

There are jobs to suit all from people wanting to get work experience helping them get back into work / as part of your coursework / start working  or  just  people with plenty of spare time on their plate.
     
   
We currently have over 700 hrs/mth (at Aug 2011) of volunteer time and are looking to increase this by the end of 2011 to over 1,000 hrs/mth - See other info.
